Denbighshire, Sir Ddinbych in Welsh, is a north-eastern county of Wales, bordered at the north by the Irish Sea.
Within the later records (post 1812) you can discover your ancestor’s occupation. The occupation listed is generally the occupation of the baptised person’s father. The occupation can give you further insight into your ancestor’s family life and parish. For example if your ancestor was a farmer, you known that the family lived in a rural area, but your ancestor was listed as a puddler (of iron) you can infer that they lived in a more industrialised area. Coal mines and iron production were active in the Wrexham area of Denbighshire, especially in Ruabon parish with large deposits of iron, clay and coal.
