The Galway county burials are a collection of burial ground plot books and registers of internments. The records have been digitised by the Galway county council and transcribed by Findmypast. The collection is extensive but not complete. The burial grounds listed in the records are managed by the county council. Originally management of the grounds was the responsibility of the burial boards, a subcommittee of the Poor Law Union. Later the responsibility was passed to the Rural District Councils, next to the Boards of Health & Public Assistance and finally, from the early 1940s, it was transferred to the County Council.
